How to make easy Paper helicopters

We've been studying Push Pull in science and have made helicopters, using a Primary Connections unit, with Mrs Deane. We looked at how gravity pulled the helicopters downwards and at how air pushed upwards at the paper wings.

How to make an awesome paddle boat

You will need:

• a carton
• 2 kebab sticks
• elastic bands

Method

1. Cut off the side of your boat with parent help. 

2. Cut out a paddle with this piece of carton.

3. Pierce 2 small holes, 3-4 cm apart, in the stern (back) of the boat with parent help. 

4. Push a kebab stick into each hole.

5. Stretch an elastic loosely around the kebab sticks.

6. Wind the paddle tightly in the elastic.

7. Lower your boat into water.

If you only have a small space to race your boat then try these:

You will need:

• the side of a carton box
• elastics

Method:

1. Cut a rectangle out of the carton.

2. Cut a 'roof' or triangle shape.

3. Cut a 'door'.

4. Cut this 'door' thinner and shorter.

5. Stretch an elastic loosely around the walls of the 'door'.

6. Wind a paddle tightly in the elastic.

7. Lower your boat into water.
