Owl Babies is a winner!

Georgia K was very excited that her Dad saw an owl recently. Running with this interest in owls, we used two books to explore the structure of narratives. 'Owl Babies' by Martin Waddell is the perfect book to use because of its simple but touching storyline. There are also several lesson plans available on the internet (see TES Connect) as well as a great reading on YouTube.

'Billywise', by Judith Nicholl, is a magical book about a young owl's glorious first flight. The vocabulary in Billywise is so powerful and lyrical, we were inspired to write a diamante-like poem on owls too.

Best Buddies' Idea

We couldn't wait to click the flower pot at http://www.poissonrouge.com/ to help our prep buddies with their mouse control. We found out that many of our buddies didn't need much help at all!

We love hanging out making stuff and playing with our buddies but today was one of our best times ever! You can see their lovely teacher Miss Woods in one of the photos but Miss Maggie seems to have hidden away...

Our school held a Crazy Hair Day and Team 2A joined in the fun by supporting the Leukaemia Foundation.
For a gold coin donation, students took part in one of the nation's largest fundraisers by coming to school with their hair sprayed with temporary hair colour.
Congratulations to Jordie who was a winner in the Boy's Junior category.

Going to Year 2 by...

Nellie

Under questions and worries, Nellie has written, "Are you going to be mean soon?"


The Year 2s have been filling in this form. It took us a long time. At the end of the year we are going to fill in the identical form except 'Year 2' will be replaced with 'Year 3'. We will then be able to see how our writing skills have developed over the year. We anticipate that the form will take a lot less time to complete!
