Mystery readers

This was our best week ever! Georgia's Grandma read the bush ballad Waltzing Matilda (Banjo Paterson) to us on Wednesday and Luke's Grandad read to us on Friday.

The song narrates the story of a swagman making a cup of tea at a bush camp and capturing a sheep to eat. When the sheep's  owner arrives with three policemen to arrest the worker, he jumps in and drowns  in a small waterhole and goes on to haunt the site.

Luke's Grandad told us about leprechauns and Ireland. He even told us a poem in Irish. (We loved his Irish accent.) The class got so excited that he got mobbed as he left but he was very good natured about it! In all the excitement, I forgot to take the obligatory photo so we're hoping that Luke's Mum or his Grandad will e-mail me one.

And here it is with...an Irish flag in the background! Susan, you're a star!
